week7 - UaE iN tHe PaSt
UAE in the past was completely different from nowadays . Twenty years ago UAE was simple . Firstly , people lived in tents, or huts made of palm leaves. Also these houses were very small compared to modern villas. Moreover, they didn’t contain any technique or luxury items, like warm bathrooms, satellites, bedrooms and TVs . Secondly, education in the past used to be stronger at teaching the values and the pure Islamic principles . In addition , they used simple tools in teaching and they used to sit in the sand or to sit under a huge tree . Before, they used to memorize or write on a camel leg bone or on a tree woods . Thirdly, transports are changed a lot in the past people used to travel by camel and horse . Also , traveling in the past take a lot of time , some time it took week or month . In conclusion, I think family life is better in some ways like transport, electricity and education , but in other ways social interaction between families is become bad .
Week 2 - Ramadan
All Muslims of the world celebrate their holiest month of Ramadan. They celebrated during the ninth month of Islamic calendar Muslims in this month don't eat anything for more than 10 hours. In addition they fast from sunrise till the sunset. In this month everyone share with neighbors their food and that's why every Muslim likes it because their friendships become stronger. Also Muslim has to pray “Traweeh" and it's only in Ramadan Muslims can pray it. They have to read Quran and also to finish it. Muslim can do everything its good in this month because Allah increases their retribution. Although, they have to give people payment and it's called “Alms Tax"
Moreover, the Arab countries some of them give their people kind of holiday or they reduce their working time to let people pray and read Quran because like I said it's good for them. Allah rewards those people who do good things in their life.

Week - 7 .. UAE 20 years ago
THE PAST
The United Arab Emirates is a federation which consists of seven emirates. The largest emirate is Abu Dhabi which contains the nation's capital city Abu Dhabi. It is one of the countries that are rich in culture and tradition which effects the lifestyle of its locals. And it is also my homeland.
Work in the U.A.E mainly depends on its oasis atmosphere and surrounding gulf, at that time they had nothing to support them financially other than the raw materials at hand.
Fishing, The Sea has been generous to the people of the emirates providing them with a reliable source of food. Hadra a type of fish trap by which fish were guided along a stake-fence and into a small enclosure where they were harvested at low-tide, or a moveable garghour trap woven from palm fronds, weighted down by stones, and baited to entice fish to enter through a narrow hole. Other than fish, there are turtles and dugongs also provided valuable protein. They were caught by stalking them through the shallows, from a canoe, and eventually diving in after them and literally grappling with them. Turtle eggs were collected from nesting beaches and most parts of the animal were utilized.
Boating, Crafts men who build boats used for transportion or during long fishing trips or pearling was a neccary trade. The Arab dhow is one of the most graceful sailing craft, the purpose for which a traditional wooden vessel was intended greatly influenced its design and still today craftsmen build working boats and racing dhows.
Pearls and Pearling, The lulu or pearl oyster provided a source of local wealth in the emirates, Pearl oysters are found naturally on many shallow banks in the Gulf. The pearling industry had transformed the traditional economy of the tribal population. Many families moved to live permanently in one of the coastal settlements, increasing, in particular, the size and importance of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Ramadan is a holy month week2
Every year there is a month called Ramadan and in this month all Muslims ought to fast from dawn to sunset. This month is very important to all Muslims because they become closer to GOD. They must not eat or drink until “Eftar”, even smoking is forbidden in the day time and it is not allowed for Muslims whom are fasting to smoke. Many habits changes in the holy month of Ramadan. Although Muslims have to help each other all the time but helping the poor people increases in this holy month by feeding and helping them and giving them money and clothes . Many people in the UAE make tents near their houses and serve food, “Eftar”, for the poor people. In addition, the government and the Red Crescent give food near the mosques during Ramadan. This might help in increasing the good relations between Muslims.Ramadan is a holy month and people have to respect this month and avoid doing bad habits. Furthermore, praying and reading the holy QRAN could help.

The best month for all Muslims <3
Ramadan is a blessed month when people fast. In this holy month people abstain from food and drink from dawn to sunset but they must also fast from sins and bad habits. They try their best to keep away from forbidden sights, sounds and anything that is considered to be a sin and ought to focus on praying and other types of worship. By fasting the person should learn patience, sacrifice, sympathy and self-discipline. This month could be a new fresh start for a lot of people because in this month good deeds should be easier for Muslims as the Prophet Mohamed told us that the Gates of Hell are chained and the Gates of Paradise are open.
it’s a month of caring and sharing amongst Muslims, a coming together of the whole community which should strengthen it. Moreover a lot of people will help the poor and give a lot of charity such as clothes, money, food and toys. Charity is a fundamental aspect of Ramadan wherein people learn how to give and share, by doing these simple things they could put a smile on the face of those less fortunate and that’s worth a lot to them both here and in the Hereafter. Many mosques provide food and shelter for those who don’t have a place to eat or sleep. Reading Quran is an important part of Ramadan. Muslims all try to compete against each other to see who can read more Quran and finish the whole Holy Book. People also socialize more together by visiting each other . Relationships, especially between families, become stronger in this month.
In my opinion Ramadan has changed very much over the last few years. People nowadays seem to concentrate more on the food they eat and the television serials they watch more than on the spiritual aspects of the month. Many people may also turn day into night whereby they sleep all day and stay up all night denying themselves the blessings of this holy month. Eid Al Fitr is the day that marks the end of the fasting period. It is the day of the new moon. There are special prayers and charity which Muslims must do. And afterwards the look forward to seeing their families and wearing the newest clothes and jewelry and for children the most important thing – receiving Eidiah (a gift of money)!

Ramadan is a school
Ramadan month is a good school even for one person or for all society. At this month a lot of things changed by renewing the way of social, psychological and economical life. It affects our life in many ways and this because of fasting techniques.
First, fasting affects our psychology by teaching us how to be patient and how to have a strong determination. Many psychologists and researches urges to control our lusts and says, if a person could have everything he wants, this will help to be an upset person. Moreover, many medical centers use fasting as a treatment. Second, fasting is a time to change our life’s vision and to quit from selfness and to feel about other poor and hungry people. In some countries like UAE, many people starts to donate money and to make a “fasting tents” which includes food for any person who wants to eat in a time of “eftar”. Consequently, this will help the economic situation for poor people. In addition, Ramadan doesn’t only mean stop eating and drinking, but also means to control our reactions and stop doing bad habits. It teaches us how to resist. That’s why a lot of victories happened in Ramadan in the past. For example, if somebody was provoked, you mustn’t reply because if you did, you will lose the “ajjr” which means the reward by Allah. That means a person who is fasting should avoid intense arguments, lying, noising people, making problems with them and anything could hurt a person or a society. In this way, when each one make what he believes true as an application in his life by reforming the society and protect it, he will become a core of a strong society.
Now a days, Ramadan becomes as a carnival and a season for food and hundreds of serials. Only few people make It as a time for meditating. But If everybody recognized the philosophy and the real meaning of Ramadan, we would had this values in our society.

It is true that during this month we Muslims suffer because we have a very special kind of fasting called 'Seyam'. Seyam means that we shouldn't eat or even drink water from dawn until sunset. Yet, Ramadan is the time of great joy and happiness. It is the time where you must share what you have with those who are less fortunate. It is the time you feel that you are closer to the Almighty God. You have to pray a lot and try to quit all those bad habits and behavior that you developed during the year.Praying and Fasting is not all . There is a lot of fun during this month. According to the Holy Quran: “The month of Ramadan in which Quran was sent down, the direction for the people and guidance and clear signs of judgment; that whoso of you finds this month, necessarily, he should fast in it, and whoso is ill or on a journey then same number of fasting in other days; Allah desires facility for you and desires not hardship and for this, that you should complete the counting and speak of the Greatness of Allah, as He guided you and so that you may be grateful”. (Surah Al-Baqara).In Ramadan people must read Quran and help poor to clear away their guilt’s . During Ramadan, it is common for Muslims to go to the Masjid (Mosque) and spend several hours praying and studying the Quran. In addition to the five daily prayers, during Ramadan Muslims recite a special prayer called the Taraweeh prayer .people visit their family and friends, they spend nice hours together watching nice programs on TV and eating special sweets of Ramadan .Ramadan is also a time to re-evaluate one's convictions and deeds. In conclusion, Ramadan is a time when Muslims concentrate on their faith and spend less time on the concerns of their everyday lives. It is repeated every year as a reminder and re-enforcer. We should Live moment by moment in Ramadan by praying ,reading quran and helping poor people. After Ramadan is completed Muslims all over the world celebrate their holiday of Eid ul-fitar., Friends and family gather around and exchange gifts and money.
